Reason for the triumph: He is bringing the relics of the Magi \u201cto Cologne to the eternal glory of Germany\u201d.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>(K\u00f6lner Stadtanzeiger, Tuesday, 07.01.2014)<\/p>\n<p>As a result of this relic, so the tradition goes, three golden crowns appear on the city crest of Cologne to this day.<br \/>\nThat is exciting enough, but who would have thought that the Three Wise Men even had coats of arms?<\/p>\n<h2>Here is the \u201cproof \u201d&#8230;<\/h2>\n<h3>The Ingeram-Codex<\/h3>\n<p>Also known as \u201cCodex Cotta\u201d, according to one of its previous owners, is a book of heraldry of the Austrian Duke Albrecht VI., dated 1459. It emerged between 1486 and 1492. It originally consisted of two volumes, the second of which is presumed lost. During this period he created the only work with certainty ascribed to him, the Book of Heraldry, Codex Haggenberg, (Codex 1084 of the St. Gallen Abbey Library). In the book he describes himself as author of the work and citizen of St. Gallen.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16557\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16557\" class=\"size-full wp-image-47884 \" src=\"https:\/\/pro-heraldica.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Haggenberg.jpg\" alt=\"Wappenbuch Codex Haggenberg\" width=\"200\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pro-heraldica.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Haggenberg.jpg 200w, https:\/\/pro-heraldica.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Haggenberg-142x200.jpg 142w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16557\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Haggenberg Codex<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It is striking, but not surprising, that the color scheme of the Magi coats of arms is variable, which is frequently the case with \u201cascribed\u201d coats of arms, because there is naturally a lack of continuity in the bearing of these coats of arms over an extended period.<\/p>\n<h2>Subsequent Allocation of Coat of Arms<\/h2>\n<p>As students of heraldry, you may ask: How can this be? The heraldic period does not begin until the second third of the 12th Century. That is correct.
